Spackman is really good at explaining concepts and is a really nice guy. I think a lot of the class got by without doing the reading (mostly because the reading was hard and dense). Interesting class.

John is a kind and great guy. Lectures were a bit dry with an occasional heated discussion. Weekly non-graded responses were a pain, but only three papers other than those and 1 quiz. Overall a typical large intro course with a brief overview of topics.

Prof Spackman is a great professor who really brings the life out of some occasionally dry material. Discussions were especially productive and the work load was pretty light with only three graded essays and reading that wasn't always necessary because he went over it in class. Overall great professor to take a phil class with.

Spackman is a good guy and good professor. His lectures are interesting enough to keep you awake, yet thorough enough that you can follow class without reading. Overall: fair grader and interesting material. Take the class

Professor Spackman is a great and an understanding professor. He made the concepts quite easy to understand and his lectures rendered readings quite unnecessary although in class discussions (part of participation grade) necessitated them. Overall, a good, solid course that was neither detestable nor enjoyable but the professor made it worth it.
